Description

Langrenus crater on the eastern shore of Mare Fecunditatis, imaged from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 10-03-2020.

Skywatcher 8 inch f5, Televue 5x, ZWO ASI224mc.

Stack of 1000 of 10,162 frames (~90 fps).

AS3, Registrax 6, Light Room + Topaz Denoise.

The central peaks are about a kilometre high. Transient illumination near the Langrenus central peak was detected in 1992 by the 1m telescope at the Observatoire de Paris, and has been attributed to outgassing of radon from the fractured crater floor resulting in levitation of lunar dust.
